MossPaper gives writers the shape of a newsletter, a publication with issues and replies, without asking readers for an inbox. Here is everything that comes with it, and the things we deliberately left behind.
Nothing on MossPaper sits behind a paywall or a sign-up wall. You will never be asked to create an account to keep reading, because there are no reader accounts at all.
Each publication has its own feed at /handle/feed.xml, and the whole network has one at /feed.xml. Add either to any feed reader and new issues arrive there in order, with no email involved.
Issues are plain server-rendered pages. They load quickly on a phone, keep long text at a comfortable line length and set Vietnamese and other accented text cleanly.
Your work lives at /your-handle/ with a cover image, a portrait, a short bio, an optional link to your own website and a pinned introduction you write yourself.
Every issue can carry a cover image, a section and topics. Long issues get a table of contents built from your headings, so readers can jump to the part they came for.
Sections group your issues into shelves readers can browse on your page. Topics connect your issues with related writing across the rest of the network.
Links in your issues are normal links. Point readers to your own website, your sources and the people you are writing about.
Readers answer an issue with a name and a message. No email address, no password, no profile to fill in.
Each guest reply waits for a moderator before it appears under the issue. Replies that are never approved are deleted automatically after 30 days.
When a writer answers in their own replies, the answer is marked so readers can tell it apart from the rest of the conversation.
If something you need is missing, the help center may already answer it. If not, write to us from the contact page.
