Terms of service

Last updated:

These terms describe how MossPaper is offered to the people who read it, reply on it and write for it. They are written to be read, so please do.

Using MossPaper

By reading, replying or publishing on MossPaper you agree to these terms and to our community guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. “We” and “the MossPaper team” mean the people who run this site; “you” means anyone using it.

The service

MossPaper is a reading network where invited writers publish issues on their own publication pages and anyone may read them for free, without an account. Writer accounts are given by invitation only; there is no public sign-up. We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the service, including features described elsewhere on this site, at any time.

Reading and feeds

You may read, share links to and subscribe to any publication through its RSS feed for personal use. The issues themselves belong to their writers. Quoting a short passage with credit and a link is welcome; republishing whole issues elsewhere needs the writer’s permission.

Replies

When you post a reply, you are responsible for what it says. You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it follows the guidelines. Guest replies are reviewed before they appear and we may decline, edit for formatting or remove any reply. By posting a reply you allow us to display it under the issue and keep it there until it is removed.

Writers and their content

Writers keep ownership of everything they publish on MossPaper. By publishing, a writer grants us permission to host, store, display and distribute their content, including through RSS feeds and in previews of their issues across the site, for as long as it remains published.

Writers are responsible for their own issues, pinned introductions, profile details and links. They confirm that they have the rights to what they publish, including images, and that it does not break the law or the guidelines. A writer can ask us to remove an issue or their entire publication at any time through the contact page.

Removing content

We may remove any content, or close any publication, that we believe breaks these terms or the guidelines, that has been reported to us with good reason, or that puts readers or the service at risk. We may do this without notice where we think it is necessary, and we will try to explain our decision to the writer concerned.

Our part of the site

The design, logo and the text of MossPaper’s own pages belong to the MossPaper team. Please do not use them in a way that suggests you are MossPaper or that we endorse something we do not.

No warranty

MossPaper is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do our best to keep it running, accurate and secure, but we make no promises that it will always be available, free of errors or suitable for any particular purpose. Opinions in issues and replies belong to the people who wrote them, not to us.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the MossPaper team is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, from content published by writers or repliers, or from the service being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. If you keep using MossPaper after a change, you accept the updated terms.

Questions
