Reading
Do I need an account to read?
No. Every issue and every publication page is open to anyone. MossPaper has no reader accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for.
Does anything cost money?
No. Reading is free and there are no paid tiers, paywalls or locked issues.
How do I find more from a writer I like?
Click their name or portrait on any issue. Their publication page lists every issue, newest first, and their sections let you browse by subject.
Following writers
What does “Subscribe (RSS)” do?
It opens the writer’s RSS feed, at /handle/feed.xml. Copy that address into a feed reader app and their new issues will appear there. We never ask for your email.
Is there one feed for everything?
Yes. /feed.xml carries the newest issues from every publication on MossPaper.
Replies
How do I reply to an issue?
Scroll to the end of the issue, type your name and your reply, and press “Post reply”. No account or email address is needed.
Why can’t I see my reply yet?
Guest replies are read by a moderator before they appear. Approved replies show up under the issue; replies that are not approved are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Can I edit or delete a reply I posted?
Not directly, because there are no reader accounts. Use the contact page, choose “${T_REPORT}”, and tell us the issue address and the name you used.
Writing on MossPaper
How do I start a publication?
Writer accounts are by invitation; there is no public sign-up. Tell us about your plans through the contact page with the topic “${T_WRITE}”.
Who owns what I publish?
You do. By publishing you allow MossPaper to host, display and distribute your issues, including through RSS. You can ask us to remove an issue or your whole publication at any time.
Can I link to my own website?
Yes. Your publication page can show a website link, and links inside your issues are ordinary links.
Privacy and reports
What do you keep about me?
Very little: the name and text of any reply you post, and the details you send through the contact form. The privacy policy lists everything and how long it is kept.
How do I report an issue, a reply or a copyright problem?
Use the contact page and pick the matching topic. Include the address of the page so we can find it quickly.
